Boston: for Roman

elementsofchaosJovan never stays long in any one place. It's not only that he feels a wanderlust that he blames on his... condition, it's that the last thing he wants is for his family to find him. The thought of being dragged back home is unbearable. He's not a tree putting down roots, hell, he isn't even a grass sprout in that sense. Maybe he's a tumbleweed, breaking free of the place that germinated him and rolling aimlessly until he's tangled somewhere, only for a strong wind to push him along again eventually.
It's not as easy to settle in a town or city when he doesn't want to rent a room or even stay in a hotel. The best he can do is park somewhere on a street and then move to a different space every day or so, maybe three days if he's lucky and nosy neighbors think he's there to visit someone. Driving short distances to find a new place to park isn't too bad, the van's electric engine gets some power from the solar panels. The gas engine only kicks on when he's on a longer drive to a completely new area. He's careful when he gets in and out of the van, watching for people who might realize he's staying in the vehicle without moving.
At least he doesn't have any trouble keeping the water tank full or charging the batteries when the solar panels don't cut it, one of the few advantages of who he is.
Early autumn's not a bad time to settle in Boston for a bit. The leaves are starting to change, and the cooler weather means he can huddle into hoodies without anyone staring. He can make himself as anonymous as possible. He's gotten much better at that, which means he's saving on the cost of hair dye and contact lenses. Just a normal, dark-haired, dark-eyed guy walking toward the local coffee shop, nothing to see here, he only wants a caramel pumpkin spice latte and something to eat.
The Help Wanted sign in the window makes him pause hopefully. Huh, it wouldn't be a bad way to earn some money for the next couple of months. Places like this don't look for a resume, only experience, and he knows how to pull shots and mix the drinks well enough to pass muster. Pulling down his hood so he doesn't look completely unprofessional, he approaches the counter.
